	DESIGN FEE STRUCTURE
	Below is a summary of how Down to Earth calculates fees for projects. Design projects are typically billed on a fixed fee scale, described below. All consulting is provided on an hourly basis. Non-profit organizations and homeowners receive a reduced rate for consulting services. Fixed Fee Calculation - Design Projects Fees for design projects are determined on a fixed fee basis, unless they are very small. The architectural fee is determined using a percentage of the estimated construction costs. The larger the project, the lower the percentage used to calculate the design fee.

	Structural Engineering Fees Down to Earth hires a licensed structural engineer to stamp all projects. Fees for structural engineering are, in most cases, passed directly on to the Client in addition to architectural fees above. These engineering fees typically fall between $750 and $2,500 depending on the size and scope of the project. Reimbursable Expenses Down to Earth assesses reimbursable expenses, such as additional reproduction charges and express mail postage (when specifically requested by the Client), in addition to fixed design fees described above. The Client pre-approves all reimbursable expenses and Down to Earth bills them to the Client at cost plus 5% overhead. No additional fees are assessed for correspondence by phone, fax, email, or standard postage for deliverables.
