Down to Earth was the design, construction,
and natural building consultant for this 1-1/2 story (partial loft), 1,100
SF strawbale infill addition to a residence in Montgomery
County, Maryland. The structure has a rubble trench foundation with
modified post-and-beam framing, strawbale infill insulation, several cob
interior walls, papercrete bathroom sink/counter, and many recovered and
recycled-content building materials.
Sigi Koko designed and installed many of the custom
interior elements.
