DATE: October 2, 3, 4 (3 Days) LOCATION: Downtown Westport, NY DESCRIPTION: Spend 3 days learning how to pour and level a thick layer of adobe floor. Poured adobe can be used over framed floors or to cover radiant floor heating systems. They are durable, inexpensive, easy to maintain, and DIY-friendly to install. WHAT YOU LEARN: • benefits of clay materials • performance of adobe floors • tamped vs. poured adobe floors (benefits/challenges) • understanding ingredients & the function each one serves • how to test site soil for clay & establish your basic recipe • low-tech mixing techniques • creating a level floor PROJECT: We will install the second of 3 layers of an adobe floor in a home in Westport, NY. This layer is troweled, like plaster, to provide a level base for the final finish layer. It can be used to surround in-floor heating pipes. This Course is for you if… you want to understand the basics of installing and leveling a poured base layer for an adobe floor. Useful if you are installing over a framed floor or around radiant tubing! Receive a refund minus 10% processing fee Cancellation with 14 to 30 days notice receive 50% refund. No refunds will be issued for cancellations within 14 days of the course date. Extenuating circumstances will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
